Hey unicorn planet hugger. Wanna great earth friendly tip? Go vegan! Even if only for a day. Save the animals, the oxygen, the water, oil, soil, etc. FYI: there’s more protein per calorie in broccoli that there is in that T-bone. I’m just saying! Ok, so today’s video is my first “Ask Kris” segment. yeah! You ask questions, I answer said questions. And if you have a question for my next segment, lay it on me here tootsie! If I don’t know the answer, you can bet your sweet buns I’m only an email or phone call away from a fantabulous expert who does! Hunting knowledge is my personal pass time/obsession. In fact, knowledge is the only things we should be hunting.
Over the past few decades, we at Hippocrates Health Institute have conducted research into the electrical frequency of our food and the effect that electrical charge has on the frequency of healthy cells. In conjunction with the photographic research conducted at UCLA in the mid-seventies, which measured the relative energy level in different foods, we have created a list of foods from highest to lowest in energy content.
Why are wheatgrass, edible weeds, and tropical fruits at the top of the list? Because they have the most sunlight, or lifeforce energy, in them. In this system, we recognize that all life on the planet comes from the sun. It is collected by plants in the form of ultraviolet rays, which are energy. The ratings of the listed foods are based on the radiance they contain and emit. Higher levels of food have greater radiance because their cells are capable of capturing and maintaining greater amounts of ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Five-star food (*****) indicate those with the greatest nutritional and electrical frequency available; fewer stars indicate diminished potencies and vitality. Nutritional quality and quantity are created within each plant and are determined by the amount of sun energy contained within the cell structure of the plant.
Please note that even at the lowest levels, cooked food is not mentioned because none of it registers any measurable frequency. Our research shows that cooked vegetables neither contain nor emit energy. Although dairy foods and meat do not contain radiance, both do absorb energy form the body when they are consumed. While cooked food does not contribute energy to your body, dairy and meat are even worse: they deplete your energy reserves.
The lesson to be learned from these observations is basic common sense. Those who consume the least amount of meat have the fewest incidences of man-made disease and illness, while those who consume the highest amount of meat have the most health problems. Those who consume absolutely no animal products have the fewest diseases and health problems.
Argentinians, Australians, Northern Europeans, and North Americans—the heaviest consumers of animal-based food—are also the sickest based on World Health Organization statistics on cancer, heart disease, and other maladies of the industrialized world. Ironically, these people are also among the most economically prosperous. Sadly, many of those who are neither prosperous nor carnivorous suffer at the other end of the dietary spectrum as the victims of malnutrition and starvation. As with all areas of life, what is needed is balance: Those with the means must improve their diets; those without the means must be accommodated with health-promoting food.
Using the star-rating system, you can determine what level of energy you would like to achieve. At times, one-star foods are acceptable even for people in the platinum range. The lower energy content of sprouted grain and bean preparations decelerates the metabolism, allowing for healthy weight gain in those who do no resistance exercise. People who are in the bronze or copper realms can use the four- and five-star foods to increase stamina and clarity.
Do not limit yourself or try to maintain unrealistic goals. After reading this information, many robust dreamers will say they want to live exclusively on five-star foods and remain permanently on the platinum platform. When they fail to achieve this objective, they may relinquish their hopes and sabotage their own dreams. Refined emotions, a positive self-image, constructive experience, and common sense should govern your choices.
If you never fail to do your best, you will progress securely and eventually live in a comfort zone that fits you and your life at that time. However, just because the given level is comfortable, do not get so complacent with it that you fail to constantly try to achieve higher levels of functioning or remain at the highest level once you have reached it. If you are already at the highest level, reside there with the highest level of dignity as well.

Having energy to do what we want to do is easy to take for granted. I know I did, as I zipped through graduate school and into my first years of teaching. I worked hard–and stayed up late planning each lesson. But then I crashed. As a teacher it’s natural to feel wiped out, but having to spend the entire weekend on the couch was really depressing. I became concerned when I started to feel fatigue that was, well, debilitating. I missed out on fun things and lost friends because I was too drained. I felt like a magnet was pulling me to the ground, dragging down my limbs and making my mind into mush.
I had to do something. Browsing the medical section of the bookstore led me to a book on fibromyalgia. I read it cover to cover; it was somewhat helpful. It gave me the idea to see a rheumatologist, who ran a variety of tests. She found nothing specific, then wanted to put me on a stimulant for the fatigue. I found this counter intuitive because I had just given up coffee after reading that it can cause fatigue.
Fortunately I had other resources to draw on. A few years back, I was given some B-12 shots from a naturopath, and I remembered getting quite a boost of energy from them. It seemed more natural than taking prescribed speed. Back in the naturopath’s office, with my sleeve rolled up for the shot, they stopped and wanted to evaluate me for a few more things instead of just treating the symptoms. They tested my blood and found I had the Epstein-Barr Virus (which the rheumatologist had not checked for), which can lie dormant in your body. This made sense since I had mononucleosis as a teenager. The antibodies indicated a current infection, as the virus can reactivate when the body is under a lot of stress.
Armed with supplements from the ND, but still seeking more vigor, I recalled a friend who had eaten a raw food diet for a while. She seemed to be able to conquer the world while eating uncooked goodies. I knew I always felt great after eating salads and drinking fresh juice, so why not try that? I was thinking a week or so would do the trick. Just to see how I reacted.
The first few weeks of my raw food diet, I was really tired, but no more so than I had been. I found if I kept up my weekly B-12 shots and daily juicing, I could get past the fatigue and keep going. Somehow my week of eating raw food turned into two weeks, then three, then months. I found myself having more and more energy. I felt so great that I didn’t want to come down! That summer, I spent plenty of time in the sun, charging my inner stash of vitamin D. I learned to make lots of different types of raw food–including lasagna, chili, and ice cream–so I wouldn’t get bored. I had a weekly shot of wheatgrass and even started jogging to expend my extra energy.
However, Epstein-Barr, like other illnesses, can return. That fall–just last year–I had a relapse from overworking and not taking care of myself like I should. I forgot to juice and drink wheatgrass. I poured any extra energy into my job, working 50 or more hours a week. I managed to keep going but slowly became even more tired than before I started eating raw. On my breaks from teaching I would lie under my desk barely able to move.
I ended up leaving my job and refocused. I joined My Crazy Sexy Life in May and did the ACT cleanse. I learned that I should really be drinking green juice daily. After watching the film Crazy Sexy Cancer, I read up on wheatgrass and sprouting and started my own mini-garden inside. I started to walk daily and spend a lot more time with my dogs and cats. I also began Craniosacral therapy, a method of teaching your body to self-heal, which is also very meditative and helps me quiet my busy mind.
Six months later, my Epstein-Barr blood test shows that I am well on the way to recovery. My body is not showing a current infection, just a past infection. I attribute this to slowing my life down and taking the time to heal. I still get tired at times but I’ve also learned to pace myself so I don’t burn out. I am flexible with myself so I can make plenty of room in my schedule for growing wheatgrass, dog walks, cat snuggles, making raw food, and just plain living.

Hello Crazy Sexy Cancer world! Michael from Hippocrates here. When Kris asked me to write a blog for her peeps, I blushed, smiled and felt honored all at the same time. It would be my pleasure to inform people of GREENS and how amazing they are!
First of all, allow myself…to …introduce….myself. My name is Michael Bergonzi, Greenhouse / Expo Manager / Health Educator Director at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL for the past seven years. My career in the field of alternative health & wheatgrass began in San Diego, CA back in 1990. Growing grass for a living and not ending up in jail seemed like a pretty cool job! Ok, I’ll take it! Of course, the cost per one ounce is $1.00 rather than $350.00! =)
Most people now a days have at least heard of wheatgrass juice if not actually tasted it themselves from a juice bar or health food store. (There are always some people that enjoy drinking it, but no one ever hangs around those people!) The taste of wheatgrass is not always a pleasant one and we are told that it must be our bodies that are detoxing. However, that is not always the case. For example, as a wheatgrass grower, I would bring a tray of grass to the health food store, ready to juice. If they juiced it that day, it would not taste at all bitter or cause that nausea feeling. But, they choose instead to put it in the store window for a display for people to see it, and now it stays in the window for two more days in which the sun shines on it, which it should never. They haven’t watered it, which they should everyday, and now, that same sweet tasting wheatgrass has aged almost 80 years in two days. It’s kind of like people, the older it gets, the more bitter it becomes! =) Wheatgrass should be harvested when a second blade becomes visible, and then the entire tray needs to be cut at the same time. It may then be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week without losing it’s value and taste.
Let’s talk about the ‘greens’ on the planet Earth. First of all, everyone can agree that we, as humans, are mammals. Most of the mammals on this planet are living on leafy greens. In fact, we are one of the few mammals that still eat meat and the only mammal that cook our food. To say that protein only comes from eating meat is an uneducated statement. Sprouts, sprouted beans and GREENS are the best source of proteins for our bodies. Think about it on a bigger scale. How is it possible that most every mammal (and you all agreed that WE humans are mammals) can live on eating just leafy greens? Elk, moose, deer, giraffes, gorillas, elephants, horses, etc… and don’t forget the one that WE get most of our food here in the USA from, the COW!!! Ahhhhhhh… and here is the problem now a days. You see, in the past, when you lived on red meat and dairy products, in-directly you lived on GRASS. The cow was eating the grass; we were eating the cow. It just makes sense. We were getting the EARTH in our diets. But, today, that is NOT the case. Most cows are now trough fed, mostly grains, which are making their systems too acid base, and are having to be shot full of antibiotics, steroids and of course hormones. They go over to the trough, eat as much as they can, and now want to take a nap because they are ‘full.’ (Ringing true to us as humans these days who drive through the fast food joint, meaning WE are being trough fed too! Staying full, getting tired and staying sick.) A cow taking a nap because it’s too full? Are you kidding me? So, the problem now is our red meat and dairy aren’t what they used to be. We are not getting the GRASS (green / earth) in our diet any longer. Look, I have been in this field now for 17 years, too long to judge anyone for what they choose to eat. I just want to educate people on “what’s simple is TRUE.” Get the Earth back in your diet, more oxygen back into your cells and exercise once a day. (yoga, walking, stretching, etc…)
OK. Is any of this making sense yet? Let’s go to the first thing your body needs to live. Before food, before water, you need OXYGEN!!! Everyone reading this, please pause for a moment and take a DEEP BREATH… Count to three on the inhale and three on the exhale. Wasn’t that good? Let’s face it, the only people that really focus on breath these days, unless you’re into yoga, thai-chi or meditation, are smokers! =( Personally, I smoked for 10 years, and I know why I felt the ‘need’ for a cigarette, because it would relax me. Exactly, what are you doing when you smoke? (You now have to leave your job and go outside the building. Amen to that law, so you get a bit of stress relief too.) You’re BREATHING DEEP, for the first time all day. I am NOT encouraging smoking, however, I am encouraging breathing. Try it without the “stick.” Walk away from people, your job, etc… and go somewhere, by yourself, and spend 5 minutes breathing deep. It’s amazing how much calmer you will be after doing this.
Now, let’s take a moment and go back to how ‘wheat’ grass came to light. A woman by the name of Ann Wigmore founded Hippocrates in Boston approx. 50 years ago. She actually healed her own health issues by chewing on ‘lawn’ grass. That’s right; I said lawn grass, not wheatgrass. She began chewing on it and got sick for many weeks, but stayed with it till she eventually started feeling better and better. She learned that the grass / greens were the most complete foods on the planet, as well as having other healing properties. The wheat seed was chosen because of its sweeter, more palatable taste. (Her cat picked it out.) She also learned that the green / chlorophyll will increase the hemoglobin in the blood which then distributes oxygen to every cell in our body. Take another deep breath! Remember that oxygen is a good thing? Ann started this because of watching the animals do it, as well as a statement that was made to her as a child, “Instinct guided creatures, left to them selves, do not make mistakes.” (I LOVE that one.) Most of us chewed on grass as children, if it was around. Why then and not now? We lost sight of our instinct. Here’s a FYI on oxygen content on the planet these days: 100 years ago, there was over 30% and now it is at an average of 15%. The most out there, if you live in a lush, green area, is 21%. However, in downtown major cities it is down to 9% or less. Does anyone remember ‘smog alerts’? I do, but not since 1990, when they stopped telling people. Fact: Oxygen in the cells means less chance for cancer to survive. GREENS = Chlorophyll = increased hemoglobin = more OXYGEN in your cells. GET IT NOW? Don’t forget, fresh wheatgrass juice is the best way to FEEL a difference. Drinking 2 ounces / day on an empty stomach is optimum.
In closing, remember these two simple words: “Stay Present.” More too come on GREENS and sprouted beans next month… Till then, yours in the greenhouse at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL, breathing in approx. 30% oxygen everyday, Michael Bergonzi
