A Salad in Motion Remains in Motion

salad
When you launch into a diet high in living foods, you will discover that these foods contain a force that creates motion. Non-living foods—such as cooked proteins, cooked starches, nuts, and all manner of processed substances—do not have this effect on the body. Given the physical laws of motion, if you eat foods with no life force, your intestines will be mostly stagnant.

When living foods suddenly enter your stagnant, acid-waste-impacted intestine, you may feel like you swallowed a bunch of expanding jumping beans! People usually embark on a diet of living foods for the weight loss and digestive benefits, so they are perplexed when their midsection suddenly starts moving and expanding.

One thing I am stressing to everyone these days is that WE MUST ALL BECOME SCIENTISTS. People are too quick to cry confusion in the face of all the conflicting information circulating in health and raw food circles. If everyone would just take a moment to sit with the common scientific sense of chemical reactions and the laws of motion, they could find all the answers they need without opening a single book or visiting a nutritionist, spa, doctor, or raw food guru.

Pay close attention now. Here are two scenarios that illustrate the two important concepts that will serve you well in this living-foods lifestyle:

1. Imagine taking the remains of dinner and tossing it into a garbage can. Seal the lid. The next morning when you wake up, go to the garbage can, and open it. The stench that assaults you is noxious carbonic gas that has started to grow rogue bacteria. This is what happens in your body—but your body is much warmer, so the chemical reaction and resulting bacteria are much more pernicious.

Now imagine what would happen if you took fruit—the cleanest, healthiest food known to humankind—and added it to the garbage, or to the contents of your stomach, at this moment of chemical decomposition. Would that be healthy? Health means cleanliness, so even though fruit is wonderful, it is not going to generate health in this scenario. Since the chemical reaction in the body is already troublesome, the fruit in this case would just make it worse. If you are bloated, gassy, and constipated, think scientifically about what your next move should be: something that reduces the gas and bloat and annihilates the bad bacteria.

Given the kinetic motions and chemical properties of foods, when you place fruit sugar on top of acidic waste and gas, the result is more gas, fermentation, and putrefaction. This scenario adds insult to injury, contributing to the intestinal distress, and ultimately endangering the bacterial balance of the intestine and constipating the bowel.

Therefore, if you were a scientifically minded live-foods enthusiast, you would take one of the following steps:
(a) Wait for your body to remove the waste and gas that supports the proliferation of bad bacteria;
(b) Have a vegetable juice or vegetables, which will have a neutral effect at worst and a beneficial effect at best, by hydrating the waste and contributing good microbes to fend off the bad bacteria (ideally, you would first consume some quality probiotics to help the process along); or
(c) Just wait a few hours before eating or drinking to give the body a chance to clear up this digestive upset (which is commonly caused by poor food combining, poor food order, overeating, eating while stressed, etc.).

Remember, living food is only potentially health-generating. It is only health-generating if it has an advantageous chemical reaction with everything else going on in the great petri dish of the body.

2. Next, imagine the average person off the street who has consumed mainstream food or “gym-head health food”—meaning lots of protein bars, lean meats, soy, peanut butter, etc. This food is dead; it has no kinetic energy. Living foods are alive; they have a lot of kinetic energy.

Again, most people come to living foods because they want to lose weight and heal digestive issues and other illnesses. Therefore, they don’t expect what usually happens as soon as they eat their first living-foods meal—a ballooning midsection with lots of gas and motion! But if they put on their scientific thinking cap, they would remember Newton’s first law of motion: “A body persists its state of rest or of uniform motion unless acted upon by an external unbalanced force.” Dead food piled on top of dead food keeps the intestine pretty dead. But add living foods—with all their live enzymes kickin’ around—and that system will be moved according to the rate and force of the added food. Living foods will act upon the body in a state of rest.

Most people assume this means that the cleaner, living-food meals don’t agree with them. But what’s happening is ultimately a very good thing. The all-raw hydrating substances are just reacting to the acidic waste and helping to eliminate it. This is a temporary state of awakening the old matter in the intestine. The only way to clean it out is to introduce these ultra-clean living foods (think of them like soap for the intestine), allow them to awaken and magnetize the waste, and then eliminate.

If living-food enthusiasts of all levels keep their science caps on and make choices that minimize the development of new carbonic gas (following my guidelines for food order and combination) they will eventually have clean, contracted, healthy cells. This will correlate to a lean body with tremendous vitality. Keep this in mind so you don’t misunderstand the changes your body undergoes as you introduce more living foods to your diet.

So let’s all keep our science caps on and consider the chemical reactions and the laws of motion as we make our meal choices. This way, we can use food and our food preferences as tools for our health. It’s really fun getting to know our bodies in this new way.

Here’s to the kinetic energy of living foods and harnessing the laws of science to improve our life experience!

Spread Your Wings, from Bali to Brooklyn

Amy

From Bali to Brooklyn and Amsterdam to San Fran, what I experience in my travels are conscious hubs which serve as containers and invitations for a new paradigm way of being. These are destinations where raw foods, yoga, and holistic living in general are rapidly coming up on the radar as signs of where progressive culture can be found. The inexpensive, natural, spa-like lifestyle in Bali seems to be one of the original portals where art and self growth have been thriving as a whole for a long time.

Ironically, in the west, many of us are finding our way back to nature through big city lifestyles that are spawned by creativity and living our dreams through the machinery of what a metropolis can offer. Yet, after many years of living in NYC and working and traveling in the major U.S. and European cities, what I find “missing” is what intrinsically exists living in a more natural (and warm) place – like what I experienced for 10 weeks in Bali this year.

Eating from the organic garden, picking fruit from wild trees, living an indoor/outdoor lifestyle, lying in my bathtub at night with the garden next to me – staring out at the stars and moon without the impediment of walls – ah, yes, my heart is happy. It’s easy to live this way with the internet. I worked with my clients in the west by video skype the entire time. With all the many conscious hubs on the planet and the support they offer – along with the internet – I feel the depth and honoring towards my western roots, and what I can truly contribute in the bigger global picture by not being bound to them.

The key to this type of lifestyle for me has been in letting go, broadening my horizons, and going for what I really want, instead of settling for what I think I should do, or limiting myself in any way. The natural and adventurous life calls loudly amongst my greater service and purpose in the big cities of America and Europe… taking the leap and saying yes to that call – without forsaking my western roots – has been utterly expansive and enlivening. By letting go and taking the risk, I’ve found that I’m supported by our greater global conscious community that is focused on the same mission. May we all spread our wings, free ourselves to fly and live our dreams. I’ve jumped and found it’s more than possible, it’s now my reality!

Ready to spread your wings and take flight, yet need support and guidance? Here’s some suggestions:

-Ask yourself “what do I really want, 1, 5, and 10 years from now”? Are you living in accordance with that vision now?
-What steps can you take now to head in the direction of what you really want? What are you willing to let go off in order to invite the realization of your hearts desires?
-Consider blended and/or juice fasting to gain clarity in your body and mind with the intention of establishing the direction what you truly want.
-Daily meditation, 2-20 minutes, consistently am & pm stills the mind and offers the opportunity to hear your greater hearts calling. BOS – Breath, Observe (w/equanimity), Surrender… keep watching your mind in a state of acceptance as you breath and let go.
-Gain the support of a healthy like minded community that supports your highest potential… support is paramount!
-Self care is the greatest gift… are you self investing? What’s your proactive plan for getting your needs met and what support do you need to follow through?

Take the leap! Without taking a risk there may be no reward. Practically plan and prepare – without postponing. Your time is now! Go for it!

Adventure Cleanse Tune-Up (ACT): Food & Lifestyle Journal

journaling

Glitter glam!

Before I get started on todays post, check out the newest items in our store! The number one question we get at CSL is: What juicer and blender do you use and where can I get them? Finally, we have our top picks.

OK, Food & Lifestyle Journal time…

Here are some basic questions that will guide you through the 28 days. It would be wonderful if you could answer them at the end of each day. This way you can track your progress and identify your weaknesses. I look at these questions like a road map. You’ll see where you’ve been, where you are and where you’re going. Hope my 20 questions helps. They sure keep me in line!

1. What did you eat today and did you juice? Please include breakfast, lunch, dinner and any in between snacking. Remember to choose from a wide variety of healthy (organic when possible) veggies, leafy greens, sprouts, gluten-free grains, beans, nuts and seeds. If you can get your hands on some wheat grass – good for you! One 2 oz shot on an empty stomach can really perk you up.

2. How much purified water did you consume? My Suggestion: drink up to half your body weight in ounces. Example: I weigh 128 pounds. 128 divided by 2 = 64 Oz. So I need to drink eight 8 oz glasses of water. You can include fresh veggie juices in your calculation.

3. Did you abstain from coffee?

4. Did you abstain from alcohol?

5. Did you abstain from gluten?

6. Did you abstain from animal protein?
Note: I suggest that you eliminate all flesh and dairy products for the 28 days. If that isn’t possible please reduce your flesh consumption to no more than twice per week. Remove dairy completely.

7. Did you choose low-glycemic sweets – if at all?

8. How were your cravings?

9. Did you have any detox symptoms?

10. What supplements did you take?

11. How was your elimination?

12. Did you dry brush today? How about exercise? Did you move your body for at least 35 minutes?

13. Did you meditate for 15-20 minutes?

14. Did you chew your meals mindfully?

15. What time did you stop eating? 3 hours before bed is optimal.

16. What time did you go to sleep and for how long? 8 hours is optimal.

17. How did you feel emotionally physically?

18. How do you feel emotionally?

19. Did you laugh out loud and tell someone you love them today?

20. Did you spend time in nature? Even 5 minutes is better than nothing.

Bonus question: On a scale from 1-10 how do you rate your overall energy and attitude today?

If you would like to include a record of your pH in this journal that would be helpful. Remember that pH fluctuates all the time. Use it as an educational tool and not as the be all end all guide.

You can start tracking and graphing your urine pH 3 times per day for about a week to get a basic snapshot of your acid/alkaline level. Although the blood pH is more accurate, urine is a helpful gauge worth exploring. Urine is far more accurate than saliva. You don’t have to get you’re blood pH tested unless you’re really curious. If your sick, tired, overweight, etc, more than likely your pH is acidic.

Remember, the first reading in the morning will always be acidic due to the metabolic process of overnight repair. Therefore, start with the second reading and take the others BEFORE eating meals. You can find many litmus papers (pH strips) online or at health foods stores. A good measure falls between 6.5 and 7ish. Happy testing!

Peace & scribbles,

Kris

Goddess Group – The Word for the Day is “Protection”

buttefly-on-a-flower
Peaches!

February is turning out to be fasting month!  Hey, wasn’t that a great post by Natalia yesterday?  I can’t wait for part 2!  Today is day 10 of my fast.  No more hunger pains, no more tears, no more fights with my mind.  I’m learning tons about myself, and my body.  Check this cool ditty out.  Our God pod comes with drains. When we eat the SAD diet, breathe in the earth dump or mainline stress and God dammit!, they get clogged.  If we keep on truckin’ we back up.  Like a stuffy septic tank, the toxins spill out onto our physical and psychological lawns.  They have no other place to go.  Pee-u!

Speaking of Pee-u, our biggest pathway of elimination is our colon.  By removing old waste through colonics, enemas, even the temporary use of certain natural laxatives, we allow our lovely livers to dump (gosh does that phenomenal organ need a break).  Here come the dominos!  Once our livers dump, our lymph system has a go at it.  After the lymph system says AMEN, then our cells receive the invitation.  It’s all so magically organized.  Virgos love that!

Our body, being the wizard chamber that it is, does everything possible to protect itself from the onslaught of acids and poisons.  It continually tosses the toxins away from vital organs and into the tissue and streams.  What happens next?  Sick, fat, pimply, tired and glass half-empty mentality settles in.  Then?  Dis-ease.  Remember, we are what we eat, drink, think and don’t poop.  Genetics plays a role in this for sure.  But current research suggests that the role is much smaller than we previously thought – about 5-10%.  Now that’s food for thought!

Imagine eating meal after stuffing/puffing meal (and snackies), and never properly eliminating.  Clearly, we back up and shut down.  We bloat and float.  The mind gets mad, the moods flip-flop, our sex drive withers, our jeans look lumpy.  Enter the self-esteem prison wardens.  They SUCK!  Never a nice word passes from their chapped lips.  No matter what you do, you are never enough.

Have you been taught that abuse is love?

Whether we do it to ourselves or give others permission to flog, this learned behavior is a byproduct of our twisted domestication.  If we are pure sunshine and God breeze then why on earth would we allow anyone (including ourselves) to trample the glow?

Perhaps the road back to the house of health is long.  Big whoop!  You can do it.  But as I have learned, and you have witnessed in my rants, it takes a willingness to be exposed.  Shedding hurts.  Shedding makes you shiver.  Shedding sloughs the barnacles and reveals the cherry red vintage mustang.

Are we really protecting ourselves by staying same ole same ole?

Drink your green juice ladies and gents!  If you’re feasting today remember to stay on schedule.  Check the previous “Goddess” posts for more details.  4-5 quarts of greens with a little lemon, apple or pear (if you need it for taste).  Keep it light and bright but nourish yourself.  Drink lots!

Peace and nudity,

Kris

Ps.  If the delicate butterfly always worried about protection it would never travel thousands of miles home.
