Love List: Join the Crazy Sexy Diet Revolution!

Kris Carr

I am blown away, humbled and stoked! Guess what? We find out whether we made the New York Times Bestseller list TONIGHT. Am I nervous? No. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb, against all my superstitious judgment, and say that I think we did it! I think YOU did it. But you know what’s bigger than the acknowledgments? The movement we’ve created. I see it firsthand. I see it in the bookstores, auditoriums, hallways, private gatherings (I even in see it in the ladies’ rooms!). It/we cannot be stopped. And you know what else? If we didn’t make the list, there would be only one reason:  There weren’t enough books to meet the outrageous demand that none of us (my team, the pubs) bargained for. Now THAT’S Crazy Sexy! The book is sold out everywhere! Our rankings have dropped because, um, the books sold out. WOWZA! But have no fear, we’re restocking as I type, and all back orders will be filled ASAP. You won’t have to wait long, I promise.

Mama Carr and Kris CarrMama Carr & Kris Carr

Every event is standing room only. Folks are hugging, dancing, crying, cheering (loudly!), raising the roof and stoking the fires of revolution. I am finding energy inside myself that I didn’t even know I possessed. And rest assured, if I’m coming to your town, I will unleash a kick-ass supply of love thunder! It gives me shivers to see how the Crazy Sexy movement has become so much bigger than me. WE are a force to be reckoned with, and we’re not going to wait for change from the top down. We’re unifying to create massive change from the bottom up!

Kris Carr

Sooo … are you with me? Will you join the Crazy Sexy health revolution today? Will you change your life and stack the odds in your health, spiritual wealth and happiness favor? I sure hope so.

We’re a love battalion, and I want you on board hot stuff! I never use war terminology to describe my adventure with cancer, but I have long been using protest terminology to describe my mission and passion for prevention. Why? Because as I’ve said before: Prevention IS the cure. So while it ain’t a battle, it is a peaceful protest, a “juice-in” so to speak, and the more of us who get on board, the more lives we save. It’s that simple. Sheesh, I hope John Lennon is looking down on us sweetly singing “all we are saying, is give juice a chance.”

Judging by your response to “Crazy Sexy Diet,” you really want CHANGE. So make it today, tomorrow and the day after that. Your hands aren’t tied my friend. I promise you, and “Crazy Sexy Diet” will give you a thousand and one ways to upgrade your diet and lifestyle. Once you learn, pay it forward. Recruit!

Hope you enjoy the tour pix I’ve sprinkled in this post! I want to give a big shout-out to Glen Colello and the Catch A Healthy Habit Cafe. I had a blast with my Connecticut posse at that event! Also, don’t miss Rawtographer Jeff Skeirik who captured the evening so beautifully and Vanessa Barg, raw chocolate sorceress at Gnosis! I hope to see you really soon. Don’t forget to talk to me over at my Facebook fan page (I try to respond to each and EVERY person), and join our cleanse group in the Crazy Sexy Diet Club. It’s totally ok to start “late” because there’s no such thing as late. As soon as you arrive, the party will get started!

Peace and juice-ins,
Kris

PS. Special thanks to all the folks who have given me love-filled cards and green drinks along the way! You really know how to keep this girl shiny.

5 Cleansing Tips for a Wellness Boost

By Jenny Nelson

Spring is a very traditional time for a cleanse. It’s an instinctive behavior that is deeply rooted in our bodies, as we tend to consume heavier, more acidic, and mucus forming foods in the winter months, so as the days lengthen and we transition to warmer weather, our bodies naturally want to lighten and expand. It’s a time to move toward the light, to stretch, grow, and shed our winter layers—both emotionally and physically.

It’s amazing how all of nature works to assist us in this expansion and lightening process. Everywhere we look there are new growths of bitter greens such as dandelion, nettles and purslane pushing up through the ground. Their detoxifying and liver-supporting properties make them absolutely perfect for a spring cleanse and a very simple and inexpensive addition to our salads and juices. One person’s weeds are another’s spring tonic!

We don’t have to necessarily jump into a full blown fast or detoxification program to experience the healing and re-energizing benefits of beginning to simplify. As we naturally begin to eat lighter foods, and probably even naturally lessen the amount of foods taken in, we can begin incorporating some simple steps into our daily routines for these same benefits.

1. Let go of salty, heavy foods, especially red meat.

Foods to avoid as they are acid (and mucus) forming: nuts and seeds (unless soaked and sprouted and always organic!), dairy products, alcohol, refined sugars and flours, red meat, and caffeine. This will be the most beneficial thing you can do as the weather begins to warm. And it should actually be the easiest since when we begin to really listen to our bodies, we might realize that the foods we crave in the spring are lighter and fresher—tending towards the new salad ingredients that have been absent all winter and feeling drawn to bright, vibrant, fresh foods to create changes in our internal environment that correspond to the changes in the outside world.

2. Incorporate all the green plants you can—especially local, organic, young, and fresh ones.

You can grow your own sprouts (for eating) and wheatgrass (for juicing). Add cleansing foods to your daily diet as much as possible, such as herbal tea, fresh lemon juice in water (warm or room temperature), fresh vegetable juices, raw fruits and vegetables (with the exception of bananas as they can be a bit more mucus forming and high in sugar), steamed vegetables (leafy and root), sprouts, sea vegetables (nori, wakame, dulse, hijiki, arame, kelp, irish moss) and wild blue green and micro algaes (spirulina, chlorella, crystal manna), filtered or spring water, vegetable broth, and cooked non-gluten grains (quinoa, amaranth, millet, brown rice).

All of these foods are nourishing and satiating while cleansing and alkalizing in our bodies. Raw onions and garlic have wonderful anti-microbial and anti-parasitic properties and can easily be added to any of your daily meals. Support the liver and gallbladder, which are the organs that are activated in the spring when winter fat and mucus begin to clear out of the system, with pungent herbs like mint, basil, fennel, marjoram, rosemary, caraway, dill and bay.

3. Incorporate a daily probiotic

Taking probiotics daily creates healthy intestinal flora and boosts our overall immune system and serotonin production since 80% of our immune system resides in our gut and most of the serotonin production occurs there as well. To stay healthier and feel happier, a probiotic of at least 16 billion live organisms per serving will be incredibly beneficial.

4. Add in at least 30 minutes of some form of movement every day.

Walking, yoga or some form of stretching, jumping on a rebounder, doing somersaults or cartwheels in the new grass, climbing a tree, hiking a hill or a mountain, running, gathering dandelion greens, digging up new garden beds. . . the list goes on and on and doesn’t have to include an expensive gym membership or special equipment. Our bodies are the most effective cleansing tools we have. How we move them and get them to sweat creates space for toxins to move out of our system, we lose that extra winter weight, we feel lighter and looser, and our overall health improves immediately.

5. Lighten up your thoughts.

This is a simple one, but extremely important and often overlooked. As the winter darkness fades and everything begins to sprout, blossom and become new again, it doesn’t take a lot of effort to push our thoughts through the dark as well where they’ve been gathering strength and roots. This provides an inner detox with amazing benefits!

Five minutes of meditation in the morning when you wake up and again at night before going to sleep easily fits into our daily lives and can become one of the most life-changing habits. Take a moment to close your eyes and really be grateful for your meals—breakfast, lunch and dinner, no matter where you are. I was recently at a restaurant with friends and we joined hands and thanked the farmers, the chef, the servers, and each other for the food and energy that culminated in that meal. These things are simple but have enormous ripple effects. Laugh, be curious, learn something new whenever you can, teach someone else something new, put yourself in someone else’s shoes and give five different people a compliment every day. Remember that each of us is a unique, strong, compassionate and beautiful being, and we can make the biggest difference in the world by being authentic, hopeful, and kind (especially to ourselves). Creating vibrant health and peaceful thoughts become the greatest gift we can give to the world.

Happy Spring!

ACT: Day 1

happy_rainbow_unicorn
Good morning rainbow unicorns!

Ta da! It’s Day 1 of the Adventure Cleanse Tune-up. You’ve chosen your level (review post on levels), upgraded your cabinets and fridge, prepped yourself mentally and now it’s off to the races…well sorta, this week is transition week. After all, you’re still a new colt trying to balance.

Continue to slowly remove the coffee if you haven’t done it completely yet. Cut back to one cup per day and then mid-week try half caf/half decaf. The same holds true for alcohol. Cut back to no more than twice per week and choose organic red wine.

Reduce your meat consumption to no more than twice per week.

GET OFF THE DAIRY AND THE GLUTEN. Tomorrow there will be a great gluten post on the blog – read it! The processed sugar and refined carbs – they’re gone today too. See ya, wouldn’t want to be ya! We no longer want to look and feel like dumpy donuts. Got it?

Your big task is to balance between pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and being gentle this week. There’s no need to be in it to “win” it. Be in it to do better, feel better, to stretch your self-imposed limitations – that’s more than enough. You’ll know how much you can do.

You may feel some detox symptoms and that’s OK. Your body will be jumping at the opportunity to remove stored toxins. Unless you’re really concerned, don’t back away from the discomfort, move into it.

We posted some recipes in the ACT section of the Life Lounge and will continue to add more. Please check out the Kind Recipe section of the Life Lounge too and the recipes on my blog. Also on my blog under the Wisdom section you’ll find lists of amazing cookbooks – both raw and cooked. Experiment. I will definitely give you suggestions but since there are 4 different levels I will not be telling you what to eat everyday. Instead I’ll give you thorough guidelines that empower YOU to do the work. If I spoon feed everything to you then what will happen when it’s over – when my hand no longer holds yours?

Prayer: Please help me to open my mind and allow childlike curiosity to flood in. The voices that hold me back no longer serve me. Help me to turn their volume down.

Affirmation: I am capable, confident, intelligent, resilient and in charge. Health and happiness are my birth rights and I accept them with grace. Ease flows through my life.

Morning: Drink a large glass of purified water with lemon (add a wee dash of cayenne to awaken your circulation), followed by herbal tea or 1-2 cups of green tea, white tea or yerba mate. When you are hungry drink a 16-24 oz green drink. If you’re hungry for more, wait 20-30 minutes then try some gluten-free toast with almond butter or raw cereal or gluten-free cooked cereals, nut milk, chia pudding etc. If you consume fruit eat, it alone. Your tummy will thank you. Food combining definitely applies with fruit. A good digestive enzyme will help when not combining well.

God Pod Maintenance: Exercise is a HUGE part of this adventure. 35 minutes per day at least 5 days per week. Sooo, get your sneaks on and take a walk, jog, rebound, stretch, throw in a yoga DVD, dance, hula. MOOOOVE!

Dry brushing:
Your skin is your largest organ of elimination. Dry brushing moves the lymph and removes dead skins cells in order to open the pathways. Start at your toes using upward strokes and work up to your nose! Go really gentle on your face and boobies – or avoid them all together. Circular motions on your butt and thighs really help to break up the yucky cottage cheese. If you can do saunas or best would be infrared saunas during this time – ohh, la la – speed the success!

Lunch: Depending on your ratio, load your plate with salad, raw delights (nuts, seeds, oil cured olives, avocado, raw pasta, pate, nori rolls etc), and appropriate cooked fare (beans, gluten-free grains, steamed veg, baked sweet potato…). SEE SHOPPING LIST.

Snack: A large and lovely green juice and/or some low-glycemic fruit (cancer patients with aggressive disease may want to choose veggies instead), nuts, seeds, brown rice cakes with hummus or guacamole, or almond butter. Get creative! And remember, good fats are great, just don’t go wild with them.

Dinner: Same as lunch for most. Level 3′s – this is your opportunity to include some cooked fare. Level 4′s keep it raw!

Dessert: Huh? Well, if ya need it and you DON’T have a huge sugar issue, candida, a sweet tooth that rules you, a little dark chocolate, a cacao pudding or a square of carob from time to time on the cleanse won’t kill ya. I make my own chocolate with stevia or yacon so that it’s safe for me. Please note that dessert will slow down the cleanse process. It really depends on where you are and what YOU want. But if you’re gonna snap, then snap off a piece of yummy and STAY ON TRACK!

Are you a laser bean or a sun beam? Laser beams are on the fast track, sun beams shine slow and wide.

HAPPY DAY 1!!!

I LOVE YOU!!!

Peace and level 3 (for me),
Kris

PS. If you’re doing colonics over the next 28 days, schedule your first one for next Monday – the day after our group fast. As I’ve said before, if you can’t fast then keep it light and bright. Enemas are great too and if that’s not possible then use a gentle herbal laxative ONLY for the cleanse or when in need.

PSS. MOST OF THE CONTENT FOR THE CLEANSE WILL BE ON THE FORUM.
